Interviews with audience members and footage from the February 20, 2009 Film Factory Panel Event; "the Director's Pitch: Transforming Screenplays Into Productions." Audience members were asked to comment on their thoughts about the process of Film Factory, their feelings regarding the feedback that the semifinalists received from panelists, as well as vision for where the Film Factory can go in the future as it works to build and sustain a viable filmmaking industry in the city of Pittsburgh.

Steeltown Film Factory (SFF) is a yearlong filmmaking competition, supported by a series of public workshops, panel discussions and staged readings, designed to engage aspiring filmmakers to create projects with Pittsburgh-inspired content. The competition will provide emerging talent with an opportunity to learn from internationally renowned film and television professionals about the entertainment industry. A successful SFF will lead to the training and employment of the local workforce, the incubation of talent and intellectual property, and the nurturing and development of future projects that can be spun off into commercially viable entities. These entities will create jobs, investment opportunities, and products that will be exported by our region. By bringing together local and expatriate resources in Southwestern Pennsylvania (SWPA), the SFF will help to transform this region's non-profit "Arts Sector" into a thriving "Entertainment Economy."

Video: Pittsburgh the star of filmmaker's 'My Tale of Two Cities'

in

Television writer-producer Carl Kurlander returned to his hometown of Pittsburgh for a one-year Hollywood sabbatical.

It stretched far beyond that, and Kurlander decided to document his experience and that of his hometown in a movie called "My Tale of Two Cities."

In this clip from the movie, Kurlander and David Newell from "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" (shown without his signature Mr. McFeely costume and makeup), talk about reinventing Pittsburgh.

"My Tale of Two Cities" will have its West Coast premiere April 11-12 at the Sonoma Valley Film Festival which, coincidentally, will honor native son Michael Keaton. All roads lead back to Pittsburgh or a Pittsburgher.

This video clip comes courtesy of "My Tale of Two Cities."
